General information, not a diagnosis or personal treatment plan. For urgent symptoms, seek emergency medical care rather than using an appointment form.
About this service
An electroencephalogram (EEG) records electrical activity in the brain. It may help clinicians investigate or monitor conditions such as epilepsy.
What to discuss with the clinic
Sensors are placed on the scalp to record signals. Ask the clinic what type of EEG has been requested and how long to allow for your visit.
Before your visit
Request the clinic’s instructions for your particular test. Do not independently change medicines, sleep or meals based on this preview.

Appointment optionsUseful questions before you arrange this service
- What kind of EEG has been requested?
- What preparation should I follow for this specific recording?
- When and how should I discuss the report with the requesting clinician?
Ask for current availability and fees before travelling. A service listing is not an individual recommendation or a reserved appointment.
EEG preparation guideEEG test in KPHB: plan your next step
Understand the question behind the recording
An EEG appointment begins with a clinical question, not simply a request for a machine recording. Ask the requesting clinician why the investigation is being considered and which type of EEG is intended. Bring the request or referral information if the clinic asks for it. This page does not establish that routine, prolonged, ambulatory or sleep-related recordings are all available at the practice.
Confirm preparation for your own appointment
The separate EEG preparation guide explains general questions about hair, medicines, meals and sleep. Exact instructions depend on the recording arranged for you. Contact the clinic if a written instruction is unclear or appears different from general advice you have read. Do not stop a medicine or deliberately change sleep without instructions from the appropriate clinician or test team.
Ask what time to allow
Confirm arrival time, expected visit duration and whether a companion can attend. Ask about access needs before travelling to the first-floor clinic. The published consultation hours do not establish a test schedule, and the demo appointment form cannot reserve a recording. Phone the clinic for current arrangements and fees.
Know how results will be discussed
Before leaving, ask when the report is expected, who will explain it and whether a separate consultation is needed. A technical report should be considered alongside the clinical history. This website does not interpret an EEG result or promise that one recording will provide a complete answer to the concern being investigated.
Keep a usable record of arrangements
Write down the appointment details supplied by staff, including where to attend and any preparation that has been confirmed. If you are helping someone else, make sure they can access the instructions too. Ask what to do if the appointment needs to be changed or preparation has not been followed as intended. The team responsible for the recording should answer that question; this guide does not decide whether a study should proceed or be rearranged.
